Learn about safe travel in the mountains and get the techniques you need to master mountaineering on your own. The course is suitable for new mountaineering enthusiasts who want to learn about skiing off-piste.

 

This 2-day course is suitable for those who have no avalanche knowledge and want to learn about safe travel on mountaineering. Here we start at the beginning. Come as you are and join us in creating a good learning environment.

 

The trips will mainly take place in the Tyin Filefjell area, where the terrain provides good opportunities for easy and fun skiing and varied terrain with good learning opportunities.

 

Learning objectives:

• Trail selection and movement in terrain
• Get to know your own equipment
• Recognize avalanche terrain
• Use rule-based methods for planning and decision-making on a trip
• Know how human factors affect group dynamics
• Be able to carry out effective buddy rescue
• Knowledge of different snow types
   

You will receive an introduction to:

• Snow knowledge and avalanche theory
• Use and assessment of avalanche warning
• Trip planning
• Terrain assessments and route selection
• Driving patterns
• Buddy rescue with transmitter/receiver, search rod and shovel
• Human factor
   

The course package includes a stay with breakfast and a self-made packed lunch at Filefjellstuene. You choose whether you want to add dinner or a sauna to the package. This can also be booked separately closer to arrival.
