Learn about safe routes, snow and safety on trips. This course is suitable for those who can ski, but want to learn more about traveling safely on snow on their own.

 

This 2-day course is suitable for those who have no previous avalanche knowledge, have taken a shorter introductory course previously or want to learn more about safer skiing. The trips will mainly take place in the Tyin Filefjell area, where the terrain provides good opportunities for fun skiing and varied terrain with good learning opportunities.

 

Learning objectives:

• Recognize avalanche terrain
• Use of rule-based methods for planning and decision-making on a trip
• Know how human factors affect group dynamics
• Be able to conduct effective buddy rescue
• Knowledge of different snow types

• Snow knowledge and avalanche science
• Use and assessment of avalanche warning
• Trip planning
• Terrain assessments and route selection
• Driving patterns
• Buddy rescue with transmitter/receiver, search rod and shovel
• Human factors

The topics we cover during the program are listed below. We try as far as possible to adapt to the group's wishes and the current weather and conditions.

 

The course package includes a stay with breakfast and a self-made packed lunch at Filefjellstuene. You choose whether you want to add dinner or a sauna to the package. This can also be booked separately closer to arrival.
